Doing the Right Thing For the Right Person

I hope you guys had a pretty good Easter/Passover/Regular weekend!

I spent most of the weekend with the family eating sweets, playing on playgrounds, and overall being lazy.

I'm permitted to be lazy every once in a while, as are you. It's okay to just, do nothing. If you are anything like me, you have that problem where you always need to be doing something productive.

It's okay to let go. In fact, you should probably examine why you do that?

Why do you have this drive to be busy all the time?

Why do you spend all this time away from your family and friends?

I can tell you why I do it, to make my family's life better.

I spend an inordinate amount of time focused on building and selling products so I can provide a better life for those around me. I don't want fame, in fact, I don't show pictures of myself for that exact reason. I do want to be wealthy, but only to ensure my entire family is better off.

But, can you tell me why you work hard?

Do you care about what other's may think of you?

Do want to be the winner in every situation? Are you the guy who does things for the attention or praise?

Are you really a more content person because of that?

Honestly, sit down and think about it for more than 5 minutes. Are you working for praise from the crowd? Do you want to win or work for something more than yourself?

Now, I'm not expert on self help crap, I'm not your guru. However, I do think that's a good place to start. If you are doing stuff for outside recognition, you should probably re-evaluate whether you should be doing that stuff.

When was the last time you did something just for you, some project without expectation of reward or recognition? Something that required effort and time on your part to make happen and no expected gain other than the joy that came from the action it self?

Think on that.
